Self Checkout Share Health Update on Ahren Stringer

Earlier this week, Self Checkout announced that vocalist Ahren Stringer (ex The Amity Affliction) is currently in the hospital after suffering a “serious and unexpected emergency.”

The news arrived at a significant moment for the new project. Stringer, alongside Yung Yogi (ex Volumes), recently launched Self Checkout, a collaboration that blends their shared history in heavy music with a fresh creative energy. Their debut single Death Notes dropped this week, but celebrations were suddenly put on hold as Ahren was rushed to hospital only hours before its release.

The band addressed fans in an initial message:

“To Our Self Checkout Family,
We really wanted to actively engage in celebrating the release of Death Notes with you all in real time. Unfortunately, we are supporting Ahren in hospital after a serious and unexpected emergency, so our priority has shifted to his health and wellbeing.
We hope you enjoy the big day enough for all of us, your support means the world xxx”

Now, in a direct statement to Evvntly, Self Checkout have provided an important update on Ahren’s condition:

Self Checkout confirms vocalist Ahren Stringer experienced a serious health emergency. He was found unresponsive at home by his wife after a head injury and was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.
Ahren is now stable and receiving ongoing care. The band and his family are grateful for the overwhelming support from fans and extend sincere thanks to the paramedics and hospital staff for their swift and professional care.
We kindly stress that speculation about his health is not accurate or respectful. The priority is Ahren’s health, we appreciate everyone keeping that at the forefront of their minds.

While Ahren focuses on his health, fans can continue to support the band by streaming Death Notes, now available on all major platforms.

Ahren remains stable, and the focus from his loved ones and bandmates is entirely on his health. Self Checkout and his family continue to ask for privacy and understanding during this time.
