Anthony Green at The Belasco

Anthony Green graced the Belasco last month on his So Long Avalon tour, and he did not disappoint. Best known as the magnetic frontman of post-hardcore favorites Circa Survive, Green has also fronted Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting, and more recently, L.S. Dunes. This night, though, was his own—and it was unforgettable.

Opening duties went to Geoff Rickley of Thursday, joined by Don Devore. Rickley leaned into nostalgia, delivering Thursday staples like “Cross Out the Eyes”, “Understanding in a Car Crash”, and “This Song Brought to You by a Falling Bomb.”

Between songs, he charmed the room with a smooth, soothing voice that felt more like a conversation than stage banter.

Next came Sacramento’s Kurt Travis, who lifted the energy with tracks like “Switchblade” and wrapped his set on the catchy, rhythmic “Easy Peasy,” leaving the crowd swaying.

But the night belonged to Anthony Green.

From the moment he walked onstage, the entire room was locked in. His voice—just as achingly beautiful as the first time many of us heard it through headphones—soared above the venue.

With effortless charisma, he worked each side of the stage, punctuating songs with playful pauses to sip from his mini apple juice bottles.

There were no gimmicks here, no elaborate theatrics—just Green and a voice that still cuts like honey. He gave us favorites like “Stonehearted Man” and “She Loves Me So,” then reached back for Circa Survive staples “Holding Someone’s Hair Back” and “Get Out.” Even Saosin’s “Seven Years” found its way into the set, sending longtime fans into a frenzy.

By the time he closed, there was no mistaking it: this was Anthony Green’s moment.
